ABOUT INNOVOLT

One of the founding investors of Innovolt, Mitropoulos joined the company in 2008 as CFO. In 2010, Mitropoulos was named CEO, responsible for strategic growth.

Prior to joining Innovolt he held high-profile positions in the investment banking industry with companies such as Merrill Lynch Capital, Lehman Brothers, Credit Suisse and Bear Stearns. During this time Mitropoulos worked with some of the world's top banking and insurance clients such as: Wachovia Bank, ING Direct, Bank of America, SunTrust Banks, Federal Home Loan Banks, Regions Financial, AmSouth Bank, ING, Unum/Provident and Protective Life.

Mitropoulos earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from Michigan State University and an MBA in finance from the University of Texas, Austin.

Spence joined Innovolt as President and COO in 2010 after more than 15 years in executive and corporate development roles growing worldwide companies in the energy, finance, telecommunications and technology sectors across five continents and dozens of countries.

In addition to his leadership roles with Innovolt, Spence continues to consult to the industry regarding sales, corporate finance, technology, business incubation and international business development. He is an active speaker across multiple industries and disciplines, having appeared at high-profile conferences including Comdex, Networld+Interop, The Homeland Security Summit, and the International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE). In addition, Spence has counseled policy groups including the United Nations, the European Union, and a host of other government and business groups on subjects ranging from economic development, entrepreneurialism, sales and marketing to government intervention and monetary policy.

Spence holds Bachelor of Science degrees in both Electronic Engineering and Physics from California State University, Chico where he was a competitive decathlete. He currently serves on the board of a number of domestic and international companies and is actively involved in the financing and development of a number of charities and foundations.

Deepak Divan is the Founder and Chief Scientist of Innovolt, a company incubated in the Georgia Tech Venture Lab located in Atlanta.  As one of the world’s foremost experts on the power grid and a former President of IEEE, Deepak Divan is the driving force behind Innovolt technology. 

From 1985 to 1995, Dr. Divan was an engineering professor at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and Associate Director of the Wisconsin Electric Machines and Power Electronics Consortium, the first university-industry consortium on campus that he helped grow to include over 60 industrial sponsors. In 1995, he founded Soft Switching Technologies and was responsible for capital raises from such funding partners that included GE Capital and JP Morgan Partners, for developing a line of power line disturbance monitoring and mitigation products for industrial factories and other manufacturing facilities. Dr. Divan joined Georgia Tech in 2004 to create a program in the application of power electronics and related technologies to power systems and demanding defense and industrial applications.  He holds 32 patents, has published approximately 200 technical papers and regularly presents at technical and business meetings around the world.

Dr. Divan obtained his Bachelor of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, and his master's and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Calgary.

Ben, Chief Technology Officer for Innovolt, is a C-Level Executive with more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry, specifically in product development and infrastructure solutions. He possesses strong qualifications in the end-to-end delivery of complete systems, from early concept to design delivery. Ben also has a range of strategy development experience, which includes technical ambassador functions in support of sales and marketing.

He brings long standing industry partner relationships with key industry leaders, community analysts as well as industry press and has served as a corporate strategy officer and led a $1.2B sale of Avocent to Emerson Electric. Additionally, Ben provided advisory services to several companies from the start-up level to Fortune 100.

He received his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and holds an MBA from the College of William and Mary.

David McGirt joined Innovolt in 2011 as the senior vice president of engineering. He has nearly 20 years of experience in technology and operational management within telecommunications and data center environments around the world. McGirt is focused on leading Innovolt's technology development and expanding the technology to fit new markets, as well as develop its cloud capabilities.

Previous to Innovolt, McGirt was the Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Xiocom Wireless, a global broadband company, as well as the Chief Technology Officer of ITC^Deltacom & Quality Technology Services.

He earned his Bachelor of Science from Auburn University.

Brian Merriman joined Innovolt as a senior advisor in early 2011, following a highly successful career path as a C-level executive with multiple manufacturing companies around the world.  Early in his career, he moved quickly through the ranks from sales representative to sales management to vice president of various departments at Konica Business Machines. In 1988, Merriman joined Savin as Executive VP of Sales and Marketing, and he was soon promoted to President and COO.  He increased branch and dealer sales by 140% in less than two years, successfully completed a Chapter 11 filing and emergence in less than 15 months, negotiated the sale of Savin to Ricoh, and was twice voted Manufacturer Executive of the Year.

From 1994 to 1998, as Senior Executive VP for Toshiba America Information Systems, Merriman doubled sales in less than two years, achieving record profits for nine consecutive quarters.  His tenure as Executive VP was a watershed period.  Significant turnarounds became commonplace, and as a result he was voted Manufacturer Executive of the Year for 1995 through 1998. In 1998 Merriman was hired as President of Danka Americas, an office imaging company with $1.8 billion in revenues and 10,400 employees. He advanced to worldwide President and COO, with responsibility for $2.8 billion in revenues and 17,000 employees. He was appointed to the Board of Directors and guided the company through two successful refinancing programs, slashing its debt load from 1.22 billion to less than 300 million in 30 months.

Merriman’s primary duty as Senior Advisor at Innovolt is the development of Office Equipment sales channel. Using his extensive knowledge in this area, he develops the business strategy and leads the sales team. He is also a member of the Board of Directors. Merriman is a graduate of Southern Illinois University.
